Plane turns around, makes emergency landing at O'Hare

December 29, 2000

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating an incident involving an American Eagle flight that departed O'Hare Airport late Wednesday for LaCrosse, Wis., and was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing after experiencing serious flight control problems, officials said. No one was injured in the incident, and Flight 230 landed safely, largely because of the guidance of Elgin-based air traffic controllers who helped talk down the pilot during a 20- to 30-minute ordeal.
