American Eagle Launches Regional Jet Service Between Portland, Maine And Chicago O'Hare

American Eagle All-Jet Service to Start June 1

FORT WORTH, Texas, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, announced today that it will start regional jet service between Portland, Maine, (PWM) and Chicago O'Hare International Airport on June 1. The airline will offer two daily round trips using 37-seat Embraer regional jets.

The new service will expand American Eagle's operation at Portland, now offering daily flights to Boston's Logan Airport and New York's La Guardia Airport. The airline converted its service from Portland to La Guardia to regional jets on April 1.

``Expanding our service between American's hub in Chicago and Portland will give our customers more options,'' said Tom Bacon, American Eagle's senior vice president for marketing and planning. ``Combined, American Eagle and American Airlines offer nearly 500 daily departures to more than 100 destinations from Chicago including nonstop service to Tokyo and London.''

American Eagle's regional jets feature luxurious navy blue leather seats in a ``one by two'' seating arrangement, with one seat on the left side of the aisle and two seats on the right. They also have a closet for hanging bags, large overhead bins and a spacious lavatory. Powered by two Rolls-Royce engines, the jets are among the quietest airplanes in the world and can cruise up to 519 miles per hour at 37,000 feet.

American and American Eagle recently completed a major renovation of O'Hare's Concourse G, including a new Admirals Club. American Eagle offers nothing but jet service on all of its departures from O'Hare and uses jetbridges to board and deplane all of its flights at Concourse G.

With a fleet of more than 260 jet and turboprop aircraft, American Eagle operates more than 1,700 daily flights to more than 130 cities throughout the United States, Canada, The Bahamas and the Caribbean. Members of American's AADVANTAGE frequent traveler program earn a minimum of 500 miles for every American Eagle flight.
